IHI E&C has more than 40 years of experience in the design and construction of methanol plants. To date, we have designed and/or built more than 20 methanol plants with capacities ranging from 200 metric tons per day to 6,000 metric tons per day. Two of these methanol plants were built in remote locations in Punta Arenas, Chile. Another two were built in New Zealand, where the methanol product was used to produce gasoline. We have also executed numerous revamp projects where up to 40 percent additional methanol has been produced by making innovative changes to the synthesis gas, methanol synthesis and distillation units.
All of our plants have demonstrated strong performance in excess of design and have achieved high reliability.
