The Challenges

We provided construction direct hire and subcontract labor for the rebuild of two ESPs for the coal-fired power plant. To construct three new fields in the direction of gas flow for the ESPs, we modified each with a new roof-mounted magnetic impulse gravity impact (MIGI), rigid discharge electrode (RDE) and collecting electrode (CE) rapper system.

Highlights:
  • 1.2 million man hours without a lost-time incident
  • 77-day project time frame for each ESP
  • Pre-assembled the three new fields in 24 250-ton modules
  • Employed one of the world’s largest (656-ft tall) mobile cranes
  • 600-personnel peak
  • Re-installed approximately 4,000 tons of material insideeach ESP
  • Approximately 3,500 activities scheduled with critical path method and logic ties
  • Advanced quality control, safety and project control techniques to ensure safe, timely and quality completion
